Once you have taken steps towards greening your accommodation, you should start to communicate your policies to maximise on the benefits that greening your property can bring.

 

You should communicate your policy with both guests and staff, and they role that they can play in helping to reduce the negative impact on the environment.

The focus of your message to guests should be on the ecological benefits to the local area, rather than the economical benefits of your environmental programme.

Opportunities for guest communication include:

  • towel and linen reuse programmes
  • recycling programmes
  • and by supplying polite tips on reducing energy use by turning off appliances when not in use and switching lights and air conditioning off when they vacate guest bedrooms.
